Some travel tips for your campervan holiday in New Zealand
Travelling in New Zealand
While you'll find well maintained and well signed roads throughout New Zealand, you may find that driving conditions are not the same as back home. We recommend that you allow no more than 50 kilometres for every hour you wish to drive each day. This takes into account the different conditions you'll encounter in New Zealand during your camper van holiday, and allows for stops you may make during the course of a normal day.
New Zealand Road Code
In New Zealand we drive on the left hand side of the road. Make it easy on your self and check out our road rules Click here for the New Zealand Road Code.
New Zealand Weather
Winter or summer, New Zealand's weather can be fickle, bathing you in glorious sunshine one moment, and drenching you in rain the next. Be prepared, check out the Meteorological site http://www.metservice.co.nz/public/
Fuel Costs
In today's world of constantly changing oil prices, fuel costs are difficult to predict. You can get up to date information at www.pricewatch.co.nz
Camping Parks and Freedom Camping
You'll find wonderful Camping Parks all over New Zealand, and you'll also have opportunities to Freedom Camp if you wish. For camping parks some good websites are www.camping.org.nz, www.holidayparks.co.nz, www.top10.co.nz or www.kiwiholidayparks.com. Or take a look at Pete & Pip's page for their useful tips on freedom camping.
